Harvest Returns is pleased to present an opportunity to invest in the development of an indoor fish hatchery sponsored by Nevada Sea Dream, Inc (NVSD). NVSD intends to generate 4.7 million fish fingerlings per year in the most economical, profitable, and risk-free manner possible. These bio-secure, non-seasonal fingerlings are highly in-demand in the aquaculture industry, and can be pre-sold at competitive, yet highly profitable, prices.

Investment Drivers:

Market considerations - US Demand for seafood is growing: Human seafood consumption is expected to see a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 1.7% during 2012–2022, compared with a CAGR of 1.4% in global seafood production during the same period. Aquaculture is the fastest growing seafood-producing segment, complementing the growing demand for marine protein, which remains unmet by the limited sustainable harvest from wild catch. A major driver for this increase in seafood demand is diet diversification in industrialized countries as people become more health-conscious.

The amount of fish and shellfish harvested from the wild annually is about 7 times greater than the amount produced by domestic aquaculture farms. Additionally, 90% of US fish consumed is imported; the US is likely to continue being the largest seafood importer next to the EU based on meeting their growing seafood consumption demands. This measure has been rising in recent years, reflecting an increase in imported seafood. America’s aquaculture industry currently supports only 6% of US seafood demand: American aquaculture produces primarily oysters, clams, mussels, and some finfish. Driven by the persistent underlying demand and insufficient supply, prices for most fish products are continuously moving upwards.

Project Location - Northern Nevada is a key central location for west coast logistics operations. This location offers easy access to the four states Nevada, California, Utah, and Oregon, as well as quality infrastructure, and proximity to large consumer markets in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.

Experienced Sponsor - The team at Nevada Sea Dream, Inc. has more than 100 combined years of experience in running aquaculture projects, and has successfully developed similar facilities in Israel and Indiana.

Sustainability Factors - Almost 90% of the world’s fish stocks are fished to capacity or overfished. The global economy loses $83 billion annually to illegal fishing, overfishing, and poor fisheries management. The UN Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that aquaculture will need to provide an additional 23 million tons of farmed fish by 2020 globally to maintain the current level of fish consumption in the world. Nevada Sea Dream's land-based aquaculture breeding facility will use advanced and innovative Recirculating Aquaculture Systems technology to overcome nature’s barriers and produce fingerings in an environmentally and economically sustainable manner.  Nevada Sea Dream is also a Monterey Bay Seafood Watch® Collaborator.
